Staycation Survival Guide

Hello, Good Morning / Good Afternoon / Good Evening / Good Day! How are you? Thank you so much for coming back to see me – I must say you’re looking particularly lovely today! Have you got your fluffy pyjamas, bootee slippers and cosy dressing gown on today?

Isn’t it gorgeous weather? Well, when you’re reading this it may be so if it is then hurrah, but I am currently listening to the rain batter against the window whilst dunking my one too many hob nobs into my hot chocolate (I won’t tell you how many I’ve had, its embarassing and you may judge) for what seems to be the 50th day of constant wet weather…….

So in true Brit style (the third letter is a white ‘i’!) what have I / we decided to do?? Book a holiday!

Oh yes! Not just a vacation, but a staycation! Summer seems like it was a long long time ago, the tans have long since disappeared but with christmas approaching we sadly can’t justify leaving on a jet plane but I am excited for a mini break nontheless. Not that I mind being in the UK, just like staying in is the new going out, staying in the UK is the new going abroad!

So P & I are jetting away to a beautiful part of the Yorkshire Dales this weekend and I for one can’t wait – we’re staying in some beautiful apartments in the countryside so we’re not exactly ‘roughing it’ – but with only 48 hours away I have done some clever packing and these are what I am taking as my minimal but beauty ‘must-haves’ to survive the wind, rain and maybe a secret burst of sunshine.

Its been all over the beauty world this year and I’m not going to be an exception – dry shampoo is a lifesaver!! It is fabulous for that morning after hair if you just can’t wait to get out into that fresh air, soaks up grease and gives my hair an extra lift so it doesn’t look as flat as I feel. There are quite a few on the market but my current favourite is Adee Phelan Hair Care Opulent Dry Shampoo

Walking through the dales it is more than likely that we’re going to experience the bite of the autumnal wind so I need something to keep my luscious locks in place – aside from popping a hairband in and scraping it back into a ponytail – I like to think I will make some effort if only in the evening and therefore I will be taking ‘Fudge Liquid Skrewd Medium Hold Anti-Humidity Curl Enhancer‘ ‘which is amazing for beating the frizz from rain or humidity and keeps my curls bouncing throughout the day and well into the night!

I have sensitive skin so I have to be careful with the products I use – but this is brilliant – you don’t need a lot and it leaves your skin feeling really clean and fresh and rid of the daily grime…….oh, the product?! Oh yes, ‘Decleor Aroma Cleanse Cleansing Gel (Combination to oily Skin)‘ – they have loads in their range too for all types of skin and although £12.10 may seem expensive it lasts aggggges!!

Wind, rain and walking can leave you and your skin feeling dehydrated and one of the worst hit places for this are those luscious lips – so I will be taking my ‘Decleor Aroma Solutions Nutri-Smoothing Lipstick‘ that I can pop in my pocket or walking boots and reapply whenever my lips start to get dry!

Sunshine on a Rainy Day?

As an eternal optimist I am hoping that the sun will still shine, and just because its not June doesn’t mean that protection is not required – therefore I will be taking ‘Florida Sun SPF15 Medium Protection‘ with me, you know, just in case! Failing that I’ll be checking the weather and if it looks as bad as it is today then I’ll be popping on a bit of ‘FakeBake FakeBake Instant Shimmer Tan‘ so I can make sure I am bronzed and beautiful, whatever the weather!

Right, best get off and pack my suitcase! Have a lovely weekend!

Lots of love & Hugs

Suzanne xXx
