How to get a 50’s style party make up look

A traditional, old school 50’s glamour look is perfect for a 2012 Christmas or New Years party. The 1950’s meant a revolution in womens make up products and trends, and ladies worldwide wanted to create that Hollywood movie star look. This look included big doe eyes; with sexy eyeliner flicks, red hot lips, and a perfect complexion. I’ve put together a little guide as to how you can create your own 50’s style look, by using Perfume Click cosmetics.
To start off with, you need a base for your make up. I would recommend the Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Radiant Moisture Makeup. This will give your skin a satin finish, whilst covering up any imprefections. This will allow you to get perfect movie star skin like Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe. Then you need to add a little bit of colour, and I would suggest using Max Factor Miracle Touch Creamy Blush to give yourself a natural flushed look. Lightly apply this to your cheekbones using your fingertips.

Now onto those big, glamorous eyes. You could use a nude, shimmery eyeshadow such as Bobbi Brown Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow to create a base for your eye make up. It will help your eyeliner to last longer and add a bit of extra party sparkle to your look! To get the iconic winged eyeliner effect, use a black liquid eyeliner and lightly line the top of your eyelids, starting from the inside of your eyes. Follow the curve of your eyelid, and then at the end of your eye, carefully create a flick. This is difficult to perfect, so have some cotton buds on hand to correct any mistakes! If you wanted to go for a more modern twist, you could use a different colour such as Elizabeth Arden Colour Intrigue Gel Eyeliner in Ocean Teal.

Then you need to maximise those lashes! Use an eyelash curler for a few seconds to give your lashes an extra boost. Then apply a lengthening or volumising mascara such as Lancome Virtuose Mascara.  Your lashes will then be instantly extended, curled and separated to create an astounding wide-eyed gaze. Don’t forget to apply a little to your lower lashes too! If you want to go for an ultimate party look, you could also use false eyelashes like Katy Perry does.

Finally, to get a romantic 50’s style pout, don’t forget a bold lip! Line your lips with a red lip liner, taking care around your cupids bow to create a heart shaped effect. Then carefully apply a bold red lipstick, Elizabeth Ardens Ceramide Plump Perfect Lip Stick in Scarlett would be perfect for this. You could then match your nails to your red hot lips by using Collection 2000 Maxiflex 5 Day Wear Nail Polish in Pure Red.. If you wanted to go for an ultimate retro look, you could also curl your hair using rollers or curlers. Overall, I think a classic 50’s look is perfect for any party occasion!

And here is the result!  Hope you like it!
