With Valentine’s around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about gifts (unless you’re P and I in which case we’ll be taking the challenge of being as romantic as possible as cheaply as possible – I love a challenge – get out the shoestring!) for your other half. Until recently I noticed that P had a very, very limited collection of fragrances – I’m talking 1 or 2 – so I’ve spent the last few years rectifying that situation and now he has a collection that even David Beckham would be proud of! It helps working where I do! Following on from my blog on Monday ‘All Because the Lady Loves‘ I wanted to give you a list of top 5 fragrances for Men – with a bonus splash of advice from P himself!
Nothing says I care about you or I l♥ve you like a great men’s perfume: a symbol of intimacy, good taste and sensuality – be inspired by these 5 perfumes to give on Valentine’s Day and make the man in your life happier and more fragrant… don’t forget you’ll also be able to enjoy this perfumed present!
Sporty and refreshing, Burberry Sport Ice is a perfume for men who appreciate fragrances that invoke the outdoors and the feeling of being surrounded by natural beauty. This was achieved thanks to the capture of aromas such as citrus, ice crystals, frosted ginger, amber, musk and some woody notes. This perfume may be icy and its packaging cool and minimalist, but this is a fragrance that will definitely warm his heart this Valentine’s Day.
Hugo Boss is synonym for excellent men’s perfumes and one of the brand’s most recent fragrance – Boss Orange for Men – is no exception. With the slogan “Open Minds. Free Souls.”, this perfume is a powerful fragrance, created for a man who is optimistic, passionate, casual, relaxed and spontaneous. Its notes are few, but wonderful: apple, vanilla, African Bubinga wood, some incense and spices. The fact that Orlando Bloom is the face of the perfume’s advertising campaign just confirms its modern and urban concept. For the coolest man in your life…
Did you know that the fragrance is named Kokorico, which is the French word for rooster’s cry (“Cock-a-doodle-doo” in English)??! Well you do now! It is designed as a powerful and explosive aphrodisiac, emphasizing woody and cocoa notes. The top of the composition features refreshing fig leaves, which provide energy, the heart is filled with raw cocoa, which stimulates (not the artificially sweet kind, but a natural extract), while woody notes of patchouli, cedar and vetiver express their masculinity and power. This Jean Paul Gaultier Kokorico fragrance is very much suited for the high-flyers as a dynamic and powerful scent.
This aromatic aquatic fragrance gives men energy and refreshment with its marine notes. Aqva Pour Homme starts with fresh aromas of petit grain and citruses. The heart of the fragrance features Posidonia Oceanica seaweed. The base is extremely masculine due to mineral amber and woody notes. For me, this is both marine fresh and sophisticated, and I think it has a clean edge to it without being zesty or like cleaning products. A perfect choice for the younger professional man, but appropriate for any situation for any one. P concurs.
The Black XS has, in comparison to the rest, more of a muskier tone. It’s quite manly, buff and edgy and more suited for the ‘lads’ – or rather, younger men in their 20’s and early 30’s in my opinion. Perfect as a night time scent, I don’t even mind smelling it on the pillows after a night out! I LOVE all fragrances by Paco Rabanne – amongst my 40+ collection, Ultraviolet is the only fragrance that I insist on having in my collection at all times – normally I won’t buy the same fragrance twice but I cannot let this one go – and I suspect it will be the same for this simply delightful, yummy smell.
I know some people think giving fragrances as a gift can be a bit generic, but I think it can also be extremely personal if there’s a reason you choose that particular scent! If any of these sound like your guy’s cuppa tea, P can highly recommend them – and so can I! After all, you’ll end up smelling it quite a lot yourself!
I’d love to hear your recommendations or favourites! What do you love a man to smell of?
Lots of love and lovely smells,
