Are any of you, like me on a permanent hunt for the sunshine and summer weather? I mean I know we had a couple of warm days but the summer solstice has officially passed (it rained most of the day……) and now we’re heading towards….dare I say it…….W…..Wiiinnnn….no, I can’t, lets just say Autumn!! In any case – we don’t have many days that we can pull off the au naturale, sunkissed look here in England, so other solutions need to be sought.
What if I told you that I could fill your make up bag for a fraction of the price that you’d expect to pay? In fact, I am that confident that you’ll be impressed that I reckon you wouldn’t be able to recognise the ‘cheaper’ item amongst other similar items……you don’t believe me, do you? Well I can, and I’m about to show you how.
I understand that there are many products out there and at the end of the day you can pay as much or as little as you wish for make up – but I am learning, little by little, that some things are worth an investment but there are a lot of hidden gems out there that are just as good as the top brand items but are a fraction of the price – and to me that is the exact remedy when recovering from a recession!
So here are my best bargain beauty finds for under £10.00 :
A concealer is a must for any girl on the go. It covers the dark circles after a late night, hides blemishes and other minor skin imperfections. Brush away the after-party hours with an illuminating and perfecting concealer for a camera ready, soft-focus finish. Not only does it help to soothe and hydrate skin but it also comes with an added bonus of vitamins A & E to brighten the skin on the dullest of days.
With the average woman feeling like there aren’t enough hours in the day – this nail polish provides a multitude of solutions. It is durable and lasts for an average of 5 days, is hard wearing, easy to apply, quick to dry and has a great collection of colours. The on trend colour at the moment is pastel, pale colours, for example nude, yellow, blue or sugary pink – this apricot glow is beautiful for those balmy summer days when teamed with an chic skater dress and lunch with a loved one!
Everything you need in one box – eyeliner, eyeshadow, lipstick, blusher, bronzing powder and all the tools you need to apply it! An absolute steal for a mere £10.00 and perfect for anyone who are beginners with a make up brush.
Like with anything, a face of make up will not be of good quality without a good foundation. Gone are the days when you need to have 3 or 4 different types such as liquid foundation, pressed powders and more – the new trend of mineral foundation has exploded onto the cosmetics market and this one from Max Factor is one of the best. Complete with its own brush this foundation is a secret weapon to ensure you have a fabulous face of make up all day long.
Bring the sunshine to you and give yourself a glow with these five shimmering shades that blend together to create a natural looking bronzed finish that will fool anyone into thinking that you have just come off the beach. It is suitable for all skin tones and should be used on your cheek bones and decolletage to add a healthy and radiant glow.
This colour trio eyeshadow by Collection 2000 each have 3 easy to blend shades for that perfect sultry, smoky look. It has a large selection of soft shades to choose from depending on the occassion and can take you from bland to glam in a matter of seconds. Bring your eyes alive for the long summer nights ahead and treat yourself to this trio that lasts up to 8 hours and is crease resistant.
Plump, protect and colour lips with Jemma Kidd Ultimate Lipstick Duo, a double ended lip colour and balm. Use the balm to prep and prime lips then add colour for a sheer, moisturising finish or use the lipstick alone for intense colour stay. Featuring a unique balm formula that contains Apricot Kernel Oil and Karate Butter to soften, moisturise and prep lips for colour. Enriched with vitamins A and E, the colour end of Jemma Kidd’s Ultimate Lipstick Duo adds vibrancy to the lips that will make those lips irresistible all year round.
So there you go – that is my selection of products, all from authorised, recognised sellers and arguably all as good as those that you would pay a lot more money for in a department store. In fact, if you add up the price of these 7 items then you get a grand total of £35.45 – the price you pay for a single item from a lot of companies. Now I know this isn’t for everyone and I’m not saying that I retract my argument about paying for quality at times, and there are a lot of label lovers out there – but if you don’t fall into any of those categories then I just wanted to show you that you can look ultra glam and ultra stylish without it having to break the bank.
Right, I’m off to continue searching for that sunshine – got some more goodies to review for you next week too!
Enjoy the sun, lots of sticky cuddles
