Marc Jacobs Aftershave & Men's Fragrance

The multi-award-winning fashion designer Marc Jacobs not only successfully established his own international brand, with over 200 stores worldwide, but also helped fashion house Louis Vuitton to dramatically expand their range (which originally consisted mostly of travel accessories) and simultaneously quadruple their profits.
His label Marc Jacobs International offers high-end fashion, shoes, bags and accessories. A line of now popular fragrances was introduced in 2001. Between 2001 and 2015, Jacobs's name was also associated with the secondary brand Marc by Marc Jacobs.

Born into a troubled family in New York City in 1963, Jacobs lived with his grandmother, who he describes as a major inspiration and influence on his work. He studied at the renowned Parson's School of Design, where he received several prizes for his designs. At Parson's he created a collection of jumpers hand-knitted by his grandmother which was hugely successful and led to his breakthrough. At the age of 24 he was honoured with the prestigious CFDA Perry Ellis Award for upcoming talent for his first collection with the label Marc Jacobs, which was established in 1986. He remains the youngest designer to receive this honour to date. His early success secured him the position of creative director at fashion house Perry Ellis, for which he created and presented the infamous Grunge collection in 1992. This street-style inspired collection was torn apart by critics at the time and famously cost the designer his job at Perry Ellis. However, in the same year the CFDA crowned him Women's Designer of the Year. In 1997 Jacobs joined Louis Vuitton as creative director. His legacy there was paid tribute to through an exhibition at Les Arts Décoratif in Paris in 2012. After 16 successful years Jacobs left the label in 2013 to concentrate on his own brand.

Marc Jacobs is an active supporter of LGBT rights and the legalisation of gay marriage. He furthermore campaigns to raise awareness about melanoma with his celebrity backed project “Protect The Skin You're In” which helps financing research at the NYU Langone Medical Centre.

The first male fragrance released under the name of Marc Jacobs in cooperation with Coty was the follow up on the female signature scent, Marc Jacobs Men (2002). The woody-floral fragrance combines fresh notes of Cypress, Bergamot and Fig leave with woody and musky notes like Tonka bean, Cedar and Cardamom. In 2006 the brand introduced their first simple compositions in a line of affordable 300ml splash-fragrances. Other than a number of Unisex scents, the line includes 2 male fragrances: Orange and Cucumber. Their second fragrance release was the popular woody-spicy fragrance Bang (2010), which famously featured a naked Marc Jacobs in its advertising campaign. The follow-up scent is the aromatic Bang Bang (2011).
