Playboy Aftershave & Men's Fragrance

Hugh Hefner launched Playboy in 1953 and its success was almost instant, his first edition sold over 50,000 copies. The magazine featured a mix of sexy pictorials and more journalistic content that proved to be a winning combination. In 1971 Playboy Enterprises went public and by then the Playboy magazine was selling seven million copies per edition. The first foreign Playboy was produced in Germany, 1972. This has now expanded to over 50 countries.

To promote sales Hefner stared in his own TV Show Playboy's Penthouse which ran for two seasons from 1959 to 1961 and attracted celebrity guests Ella Fitzgerald, Carl Sandburg, Lenny Bruce and more. 1969 was the year that Playboy Productions opened in Los Angeles and took on most of the Playboy filming. With lots of experience under their belt, Hugh got his second reality show “The Girls Next Door” in 2005, where his and his three main Playmates Kendra Wilkinson, Bridget Marquardt and Holly Madison were followed around.

In 2008 Playboy launched their first set of fragrances. Their line consisted of four different fragrances (Playboy Hollywood, Playboy Vegas, Playboy Miami & Playboy Malibu) all catered to the American Playboy. Contrary to popular believe, these fragrances have a very sophisticated smell. After the success of the first men's collection they released over 10 additional fragrances. They collaborated with perfumers such as Lucas Sieuzac, Nathalie Lorson and John Gamba. Besides fragrances they also manufacture clothing, accessories and body care products under the Playboy Fashion brand.
