Shiseido Aftershave & Men's Fragrance
While Shiseido launched their first fragrance for ladies, the floral White Rose Natural, in 1954, decades passed before they created a male counterpart. Auslese (1978) was the first men's fragrance released by Shiseido to hit the market. All though finding the cologne is quite a feat in itself, the citric scent is still in production. The packaging of the earlier released fragrances has been strongly influenced by Japanese design and culture. This can be seen in the red packaging of Basala (1993) and Tactics' (1978) white flask with yellow and green detail.
Shiseido's most extensive fragrance collection is without discussion the Zen line. With over twenty different fragrances in the Zen collection, 1/3 has been created for men. Zen for Men (2009) launched nine years after the original women's fragrance started production. Known to be an unique scent, Zen for Men can be described as a soft masculine aroma created by layering kinkan, nashi, rhododendron and a strong leather note. Later added were flankers Zen for Men Sun (2013), an aquatic take on the original, and the aromatic Zen for Men White Heat Edition (2011).
