Do you want to have the beautiful nails, but can’t justify going to the nail salon every week? With these tips you will be able to maintain your beautiful nails at home!
I would recommend going to the nail salon once every two months for the best results. Your nail technician is a professional and will be able to give you the perfect shape and style. Treat yourself, girl (or guy, we don’t judge)! But lets be honest, who has time to spend an hour (or two, maybe even three, if you have acrylics/gel) a week at the nail salon. With these easy tips and tricks your nails will always look fab!
What you will need:
Nail buffer and file
Nail polishes (colour, top coat and base coat)
Nail polish remover
Step 1: Clean your nails. To get the best results you will need to start from scratch. A clean surface allows you to manipulate the outcome of your nails. Clean your nails with some nail polish remover and don’t forget to get under those nails as well! To get the ultimate pamper experience you can also let your nails soak in some lukewarm water. If you have brittle nails you might want to skip this step as your nails will become even softer and will get damaged easier. Buff your nails with a nail buffer to get rid of those bumps you get when applying nail varnish. Gently push the cuticles back with a small stick. Do not cut! You will bleed.

Step 2: Give your nails shape. Decide on the nail shape you desire. Start cutting the nails a bit longer than you actually want them to be. Remember, when filing your nails you will lose some length!
Step 3: Ooh, colours. You’ll always want to apply a base coat. This gives your nail polish something to adhere to. Take a colour to your liking and start by colouring around the edges of your nail. When you do this it allows you to get a neater application. Still, if you spill some you can clean up after your nail polish has dried with a cotton bud soaked in nail polish remover. You can go all fancy with this. Stick some tape on the end of your nail to give you a crisp French manicure or add sparkles.
Step 4: Finishing up. Top off the nail polish with a top coat as this will help the polish last longer and prevent premature chipping. After you have let the top coat dry you can apply some cuticle oil and hand cream. You want your nails and hands to be moisturised as this will finish up the whole look.
Tada! All your friends will ask you were you had your nails done. Little do they know you did it yourself 😉
