Giorgio Beverly Hills Perfume & Women's Fragrance

Giorgio Beverly Hills was launched in 1961 by Fred Hayman and George Grant. It was the first luxury boutique on the corner of Dayton Way and Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, California. Other lavish shops soon followed (Gucci and Tiffany appeared in the mid- 1970s), but it was Fred who saw the potential of the location and set up his glamorous women’s fashion boutique on this ordinary street with a grocer, a gas station and a hardware store.

The name, Giorgio Beverly Hills, was Fred Hayman’s idea. It was derived from Grant's first name and from the lavish Beverly Hilton Hotel, where Fred used to work as an event organiser for the rich and famous. Giorgio Beverly Hills was not like any other luxury shop you had ever seen. It has appeared in several films, including Pretty Woman from 1990 where it was the first shop where Julia Roberts went on her spending spree with Richard Gere's credit card. A glass of champagne awaitied when you got the store and the very best Giorgio Beverly Hills customers were given pieces of exclusive Waterford crystal as a thank-you.

Frank Sinatra, Nancy Reagan, Diana Ross, Charlton Heston, and Elizabeth Taylor were frequent Giorgio Beverly Hills shoppers. For the store's 20th birthday it was decided to launch a signature Giorgio Beverly Hills fragrance. It had to be bold, seductive and represent the sunshine, the power, the glamour and the limousines of the Hollywood lifestyle. The profile of the bottle was inspired by the elegant Tiffany vase, and the distinctive yellow stripes came from the signature yellow awning of the store.
Giorgio Beverly Hills (or Yellow as it was also called) was launched in 1981 and was diffused into the air conditioning in the store – the women loved it and the perfume became a best seller.
This was also one of the very first perfumes which were advertised as a scent strip. It would sit on the back of women’s magazines and once you peeled the tape off you would be met with the powerful aroma vanilla, amber and patchouli.

The Giorgio Beverly Hills Yellow perfume is quite potent and according to the legend it was banned from some restaurants in the 80's because of its sheer power!

Today you can buy Yellow in a variety of gift sets, each year Giorgio Beverly Hills launches a new gift set containing this classic fragrance and a cuddly teddy bear. Other classic Giorgio Beverly Hills perfumes are Wings from 1992, which is a fresh and floral fragrance for women; this crisp invigorating perfume comes in an elegant glass bottle which is capped with a sky blue stopper. Red from 1989 is a sharp, woody, mossy fragrance. Ocean Dream from 1990 features an array of flowery notes and is a very feminine subtle fragrance. It is not just fragrances, colognes, body lotions and designer clothing that you will find in the Giorgio Beverly Hills stores, today they also sell luxury watches, sunglasses and jewellery.
