The Body Shop was founded by Anita Roddick in 1976 with the simple aim of creating an income for her family while her husband was travelling the world. The business quickly expanded and today the company runs more than 3,000 stores in over 60 countries. The Body Shop offers a nature-inspired skin care and home range including body and face care, cosmetics, hair care, fragrances and home accessories. From the very beginning The Body Shop put a lot of stress on its corporate identity and trade ethics and has won many awards for their efforts contributing to a more sustainable industry.

The Body Shop is known for fighting against animal testing and for promoting fair trade through their Community Trade programme which supports over 30 local suppliers in more than 20 countries worldwide. The company actively fought for the ban of animal testing and was the first internationally recognised company to introduce an Against Animal Testing policy. In 2009 the brand was honoured with the RSPCA Lifetime Achievement Award. Roddick was awarded the Dame Commander of the British Empire title in 2003 for her achievements in the cosmetic industry and human rights activism. The spotless ethical image of the company established by the work of its founder Dame Anita Roddick experienced some damage when she sold the brand to cosmetics giant L'Oreal in 2006. Jeremy Schwartz , Chief executive of the company since 2013, has expressed a keen interest in taking the brand back to its activist roots. This is reflected in their 14 Targets for 2020 which include questions of sustainability, their environmental foot print and fair-trade regulations. All results of this project are being monitored by an independent body and are publicly accessible. The Body Shop furthermore refuses to sell their products to China, where animal testing remains a legal requirement.

The first of their famous Body Butters was Mango which was launched in 1992. In 2010 the brand introduced its Nutriganics anti-aging range which is ECOCERT certified and fully organic. The Body Shop's product range also includes their Spa Of The World collection, the Drops Of Youth anti-aging products, their Oils Of Life collection as well as their Colour Crush make-up range. Popular The Body Shop skin-care products are their Body Butters, Hand Creams, Tea Tree & Seaweed skincare range, the famous Banana Shampoo and a Pediatrician approved Baby Range.

The Body Shop also offers an ever-expanding range of fragrances for her, him and the home to accompany their skin care products. Popular female fragrances are the floral-fruity Beleaf (2004), the floral-green Japanese Cherry Blossom, the floral-aquatic Aqua Lily (2008), the floral Moroccan Rose (2009), the floral Dreams Unlimited (2010), the oriental Vanilla fragrance Chocomania (2013), the green floral English Dawn White Gardenia (2014), the woody-floral Black Musk (2015) and the oriental-floral Life Is...Gold (2015). They also released a Unisex range of their most popular skin care including scents like Mango (2012), Coconut (2012) and Shea (2012).

I actually bought 2 of these sets as Christmas presents because i use them myself i knew these friends would like them as much as me. I was right. One friend said on Christmas morning she had a beautiful luxury shower and then applied body butter and smelt and felt beautiful all day.b
