Make-up Art Cosmetics, or M.A.C. as it is often referred to, is a cosmetic company founded in 1984 by Canadian Frank Toskan, a make-up artist and photographer. Together with his business partner and beauty salon owner Frank Angelo he wanted to create cosmetics that could cope with the glare and heat of a professional photo shoot. Their M.A.C. foundation and the MAC lipsticks were an instant hit with other professional makeup artists and it wasn’t long before their products were beginning to be sold to the general public by popular demand. In 1995 Estée Lauder Companies bought a 51% share of the company and this helped M.A.C. grow. The MAC motto is that M.A.C. is for all ages, all races and all sexes.
Their Studio Fix foundation and Studio Finish concealer has great coverage and is often used where other products fail. The MAC lipstick can be found in over 100 hues. You can have it as a palette with several colours or just on its own as a solid or liquid lipstick. The Mineralize Skinfinish is a velvety soft powder you apply to highlight your face and body. Should you ever be in doubt on how to use the MAC products or any of their many makeup sets there are hundreds of tutorials online, free for you to watch, or book an appointment in store where specially trained makeup artists will show you exactly what to use and how to apply it.
When it comes to tools and accessories MAC has it all: their pro palette can be customised to include your own eye shadows and concealer; their blending and shading brush set comes with short handles so that the products are easier to use and carry. The Makeup Eyelash Curl creates the perfect lashes and their various high quality applicators are used by many professional makeup artists.
