Launched by Shaun Pulfrey in 2007, Tangle Teezer is a new kind of brush that glides through wet, frizzy, vulnerable and colour treated hair without pulling and detangles without fuss. The unique brush was invented by founder Pulfrey himself who got the idea when he worked as a hair colourist in England and the USA. Manufactured in England, the brush is sold in 65 countries worldwide, selling 17 brushes every minute.

Pulfrey first had the idea for the product that would change the art of hair brushing when he worked as a colourist in first class salons for big names like Pierre Alexandre, Nicky Clarke and Vidal Sassoon. His business sense combined with hours of research at the British Library and a remortgage on his London flat led to the finalisation of the brush in 2005. Pulfrey famously presented his concept on the show “Dragon's Den” in 2007, where the Dragons ridiculed the product and rejected an investment of £85,000 for a 15% stake.

The show still brought the desired publicity and less than a year after its broadcast popular chemist Boots placed an order for the now infamous Tangle Teezer. Since then the company has been growing rapidly and was able to turn a profit in their second year of business. The product and its maker have won numerous awards, including 2 Queens Awards and a National Business Award. The Sunday Times named the company 19th fastest growing company in the UK in 2013. Through word of mouth and celebrity support, the brand quickly established itself on the international market and today sells around 5 million brushes a year. The company cherishes its Made in Britain-tag and produces all its products in 2 factories in the south of England. Shaun Pulfrey still owns 100% of the company.

The product range consists of a collection of brushes for both everyday and professional use including a compact version of the original brush, an elite range exclusively developed for hair salons, the Aqua Splash edition specifically for use on wet hair, a range of paddle brushes for styling and a special edition in collaboration with British designer Lulu Guinness.
