Crème De La Mer was founded after NASA Astrophysicist Dr. Max Huber invented a cream to treat and soothe the facial burns he suffered after a chemical explosion in his lab. After 12 years of hard work and over 6.000 experiments Huber discovered the miracle skincare essence patented as the Miracle Broth, which is featured in every single one of their products. One of the main ingredients of the Crème De La Mer products is sea kelp. Huber love for the ocean lead him to the realisation that sailors working with kelp had sunburns all over their body except for their hands. To develop the healing aspects of the sea kelp it's infused with only pure ingredients as well as coordinated light and sound. Crème De La Mer continues to add unique ingredients to their products such as Brazilian Malachite, infused in the Eye Concentrate, which reduces the appearance of dark circles. Tourmaline, a key ingredient in all the Crème De La Mer cleansers, and other products like Ascophyllum Nodosom, Eye Balm Intense & Reparative Lotion, help to dissolve the skin's excess oil and are rich in minerals and amino acids. Although all Crème De La Mer products are well loved, the La Mer Cream and its sister variant the Soft Cream receive the most praise. Being reviewed as one of the best Anti-Aging creams by Elle and awarded the In Style Best Beauty Buys Award, we'll always reserve some space in our skincare collection for this miracle face cream.
Appreciating that their success wouldn't be possible without the ocean and the magical properties that it carries, Crème De La Mer set up their Blue Heart program in 2008. Collaborating with National Geographic and National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence Sylvia Earle they have donated over £1.8 million to ocean conservation efforts. To raise awareness for this issue a limited edition La Mer Cream launched in 2015 featuring stunning blue details on the jar.
